Daily Schedule |
TIME: 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (a normal school day - preference is not to work a half day because it limits site director's ability to work effectively with suspended students). |
The first two hours of each day will be devoted to discipline issues along with addressing students with discipline problems and or suspension issues. The students addressed during this period come into the program as a result of having meet with and referred by the principal. |
A daily meeting with the principal or vice-principal to discuss all the listed problems and plan for the next day solutions (this meeting should take place at the end of each day). |
Offer as many as four classes that will consist of 10-12 students per class. All classes will be offered all or part of the curriculum, which is determined by an assessment. |
Each class will be set up according to the needs of the student based on the principal and site directors assessment of the student. |
Each class session will be held inside a classroom to achieve success. |
UMOJA will furnish each class and classroom with all necessary materials needed for the class. |
During the semester, the students will be taken on field trips that deal with the curriculum, at no cost to the student or the school. |
A monthly report will be maintained that tracks discipline issues, suspensions, and attendance along with progress that has been achieved. |
EACH SITE DIRECTOR IS TOTALLY ACCOUNTABLE TO THE PRINCIPAL. |
Site directors will make home visits, check on student attendance and design, along with the principal, tutoring classes to assist with the academic success of the student. |
