We have received a higher-than-anticipated volume of applications, and as a result expect delays in the review of new documents and the completion and distribution of evaluation reports. Your application is important to us, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We are actively working to address these challenges and would appreciate your patience at this time.
We’ve updated our Privacy Policy available at (https://www.wes.org/privacy-policy/), effective September 4th, 2023. Your continued use of wes.org or WES’ services will constitute your acceptance of such changes.
Mail service to Sudan is being impacted by the escalating civil unrest. DHL has suspended inbound and outbound mail to the country. Canada Post is still an available evaluation delivery option. You should anticipate mail service disruptions, delays, and other difficulties during this period of unrest.
Due to the ongoing impact of the earthquake in Türkiye, Syria, and Lebanon, institutions in these countries may be operating at limited capacity. We expect that affected institutions will not be able to provide your academic documents to WES without significant delays. WES is working with institutions in Türkiye, Syria, and Lebanon to ensure continued evaluation of Turkish, Syrian, and Lebanese educational credentials through standard procedures. Please see the latest country- and institution-specific information on our Required Documents page.
DHL, Canada Post, and USPS are experiencing significant delays delivering mail or have suspended international postal shipments altogether to the following countries: Afghanistan, Belarus, Russia, Syria, Türkiye, and Ukraine. These service interruptions will impact the courier and postal services’ ability to deliver completed evaluation reports to recipients in these countries. If you have an alternative mailing address, please consider providing it to receive a copy of your evaluation report.
The ongoing impact of the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria may cause postal and courier delays in both the United States and Canada. This may affect applications and reports. WES is working with our partners to minimize delays. We appreciate your patience.

DHL has temporarily suspended shipments to Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus due to the conflict in the region. USPS and Canada Post have suspended postal shipments to Russia. These service interruptions will impact WES’ ability to deliver completed evaluation reports to recipients in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. Some of the mail that we recently sent to these countries might be returned to our offices in Canada and the U.S. We will make every effort to ensure that all mail reaches its intended recipient(s) as soon as possible. Additionally, we will continue to provide electronic copies of reports to institutions that have established secure file transfers with WES.
Individual applicants who live in the aforementioned countries can expect to experience delays in receiving their completed evaluation reports. If you are waiting for a copy of your completed credential evaluation report, please check with your local mail carrier to see if they are experiencing delays or rerouting mail for your address. Applicants who have tracking numbers can find the most recent updates on their mail carrier’s website. As soon as the situation permits, we will repost all returned international postal items free of charge.

As the war in Ukraine continues, the situation remains dynamic. WES is currently in contact with the Information and Image Center (ENIC Ukraine) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. WES is working with ENIC to ensure continued evaluation of Ukrainian educational credentials through standard procedures. Please visit our web site for more information: https://applications.wes.org/required-documents.
For applicants whose circumstances do not permit access to standard procedures, WES provides the Gateway Program in the United States or Canada.
The WES Gateway Program in the United States or Canada serves applicants with partial documentation of academic accomplishment at Ukrainian institutions who are seeking an evaluation report for education, licensure, or employment purposes, and who have been displaced as a result of adverse circumstances in their country. Applicants with partial documentation who are seeking an evaluation report for immigration to Canada are advised to contact the Government of Canada’s website or learn more about the measures for people affected by the situation in Ukraine.
WES is currently unable to verify academic documents with the Information and Image Center (ENIC Ukraine) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science. Individuals seeking an evaluation report for education, licensure or employment purposes may be eligible for the WES Gateway Program in the United States or Canada. The program enables assessment of the educational credentials of individuals who have been displaced as a result of adverse circumstances in their country and have limited proof of their academic achievements. We invite you to visit the program website to learn more about the eligibility criteria.
Applicants seeking an evaluation report for immigration to Canada are advised to contact the Government of Canada’s website or learn more about the measures for people affected by the situation in Ukraine.

Due to global mail disruptions, many of the evaluation reports that we have mailed are being sent back to our office as “return to sender.”
To ensure your recipient institution is able to receive your completed credential evaluation report from WES, please ask them to register for AccessWES. This tool will allow us to deliver a secure electronic copy of your report to recipients who are registered.
Please note: ONLY representatives from institutions may register for AccessWES. If you attempt to register your institution for AccessWES, it may result in further delays to delivery of your completed report.
Individual applicants are also experiencing delays in receipt of completed reports. If you are waiting for a copy of your own completed credential evaluation report, please check with your local mail carrier to learn if they are experiencing delays or rerouting mail for your address. Applicants with tracking numbers can find the most recent updates on their mail carrier’s website.
We are continuing to form new arrangements with institutions worldwide. We are steadily working through the hard copy documents we received by post or courier since mid-March, when the COVID-19 pandemic caused global disruptions to mail service and business operations. We continue to increase our capacity each week. When your file is processed, you will receive an update on your My Account page. Thank you for your continued patience.
Our Required Documents page has been updated. When you visit the page, you will see an institution-specific list of required documents, rather than country-specific as it was before. This more customized list will detail specific documents you need to send us for credential evaluation. The page also includes information on uploading some documents—including degree certificates and translations—through My Account and lists a growing number of institutions that can transmit your academic transcripts/mark sheets to us electronically.
More than 200 higher education institutions can now securely transmit your documents to us electronically. Inquire with the institutions where you studied whether this is an option for you. If they are not currently set up to transmit in this way, we encourage you to have a representative from the institution Contact Us and select the “Other” category on the contact form. We will then explore electronic transmission opportunities with them.
We are continuing to form new arrangements with institutions worldwide so they can issue digital academic records to us securely. This post from the WES Advisor Blog discusses the options available for institutions to send documents to WES electronically.
All WES offices will be closed on Monday, May 25. We will resume operations on Tuesday, May 26. If you need help in the meantime, please visit our Help Center.
We have begun processing mail for physical documents sent to our U.S. office; all mail sent to our U.S. or Canada office is being processed in the order in which it was received. There was an interruption in service for postal mail received after March 10. We are now processing those files, but there will be a delay. Once we resume normal operations, we will return to our standard processing times.
Most applicants can now upload degree certificates and document translations from the My Account page. Once you log in, go to your Account Timeline and scroll to the Upload Your Documents section, then click the Upload Document button to begin. Please note the following requirements before uploading your documents:
Note: Your account status may not change after you upload your files. We will review your certificates and translations only after we receive your official academic transcripts via postal mail or electronic transmission.
WES continues to process digital credential evaluations and documents remotely. We are actively reviewing files to identify any documents we need from you to process your application. The majority of our staff continues to work from home while a small, dedicated team ensures that physical documents are handled securely.
If you need a credential evaluation, please create an account.
We are working with institutions around the world to enable secure electronic transmission of files. If you would like the institution from which you earned your credential to submit your documents to us electronically, please have them Contact Us (link updated as of October 6, 2021).
We are continuing to receive mail at our offices. We are actively processing mail received in the Toronto office and will begin processing U.S. mail later this week. Currently, we are working to increase our capacity to process mail faster. When your file is processed, you will receive an update on your My Account page.
We are currently unable to mail physical evaluation reports. For all evaluations and orders of additional copies of reports that were completed after March 10, you can access an unofficial copy of your report on your My Account page. You can email this unofficial copy of your report to your institution. We have notified universities, institutional partners, licensing bodies, and immigration authorities that aren’t currently set up to receive electronic evaluation reports about this change and are encouraging them to accept this unofficial copy of your report as evidence of your accomplishments until official reports are available again.
We have compiled a list of the most common questions being asked as a result of the pandemic.
The goals, dreams, and ambitions of international students, immigrants, and refugees are not easily put aside. Nor are ours. Throughout the pandemic, WES has completed thousands of digital credential evaluations and documents. As of today, we’ve resumed processing hard copy academic documents as well. Customers can submit applications and have their institutions send required documents to us by mail. A growing set of institutions can submit secure electronic documents directly to WES.
As we move toward recovery, the vast majority of our staff continue to work from home, while a small dedicated team ensures that hard copy records are securely handled for credential evaluation. We are also working diligently to enable institutions around the globe to send us secure digital documents.
We know that each application we receive represents the aspirations of an individual. We are committed to serving each as fully as possible. In the days ahead, we wish our partners, colleagues, and applicants well and we look forward to a shared and brighter future.
